Last year I was a total failure in the literary department. The number of books I read was so pitiful, Gael and Aiden out read me beyond any doubt. Even in quality vs. quantity, I'm a loser. Only two of the few books were worth it - Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife and Kaye Gibbon's Ellen Foster. This year I seem to be starting right. First was Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk. Gloriously twisted, insane and hilarious, it is patently Palahniuk. I'm about to end Douglas Coupland's Generation A. DOUGLAS COUPLAND! It was love at first book with him, and with each succeeding one I fall in love even more. After reading his first book, Generation X, I was so smitten I wrote him a fan letter. Handwritten and send by snail mail. Each of his books are like songs, they remind me of a very specific period of my life.
Hard to top these two literary rock stars but I simply have to keep on reading.
